Savalas S.A. Group is one of the leading publishing companies in Greece. It is considered to be the most dynamic company in its field and a point of reference in the educational books.

More than 50 editors, many of them authors of educational and children’s books, work for us and, with the help of a standard group of Greece’s best translators, reassure the educational and scientific quality and accuracy of our books.

1) Savalas Publishers was established in 1981 by Angelos and Spyros Savalas, already well known teachers of physics. They started publishing their own educational books. Gradually, the company became one of the most successful publishing houses in Greece.

2) The Savalas Publishers’ Social Science series includes classic titles from both Greek and international literature, landmark titles from all social science disciplines as well as research in contemporary globalized society.  The series aims at being thought-provoking and informational to its readers. Director of this series is Michalis Spourdalakis, Professor at the University of Athens.

Savalas Publishers has recently expanded to the children’s books field.

 More than 800 children’s titles have already been published since March 2004, including preschool novelty books, knowledge books, preschool and elementary school teacher’s books, illustrated fairytales and many more. 

Savalas Publishers’ aim is to enhance the library of the children from 0-16 years old with both educational and amusing books, and to provide the teacher and the parents with modern and sophisticated titles, which can be of their assistance in the educational procedure.

     i) ATHENS. Athens’ Bookstore is located down town Athens, in the commercial center of Greece’s capital, Athens.

     ii) THESSALONICA. The second bookstore is located in the second largest city of Greece, the largest harbor of Balkans, Thessalonica.

    iii) NICOSIA. In Nicosia, Cyprus.

4) Biblioroe Network. Biblioroe is a well organized distribution company with a nationwide network and access to all Greek-speaking communities worldwide. We keep a constant relationship and distribution to more than 2500 bookstores in Greece and Cyprus.

Each company is lodged in privately owned buildings.

For the advertising of our products, we use regular everyday columns in the best selling Greek newspapers.

At least three times a year we distribute our retail catalogue through Greece’s and Cyprus’ best selling newspapers.

We constantly work with four magazines (SIGHRONO NIPIAGOGEIO, PARATHIRO STIN EKPAIDEFSI, GEFIRES, LOGIA PAIDAGOGON) , which are addressed to pre-school and elementary school teachers, with lots of advertisements and reviews of our books.

Many of our books are used as text books in Universities.

We keep a constant contact with journalists and book critics of all the newspapers and magazines, providing them with press releases of all our new titles.

A tv spot is played every day, in an effort to keep our logo well-known to the Greek market and attract new customers.

We also address directly to pre-school, elementary school and hi-school teachers all over Greece and Cyprus, sending each one of them information on our new titles.

Savalas Group activities are not only limited to publication, distribution and book sales. The Group has sponsored a number of cultural and academic events. Our two bookstores have become the sites for book presentations, poetry readings, and other cultural activities related to books. At the same time it sponsors other events, which have become a meeting place for Greek and foreign writers.
